Vinyl Pool Liner Storage and Handling Before Installation

Proper vinyl pool liner storage and handling prevents pressure cracking and ensures the liner remains flexible before installation.

Liner Storage and Handling

Vinyl liners pass through several handling stages before installation.

Improper storage conditions can lead to pressure cracking.

Pressure cracking occurs when vinyl is creased during folding and later cracked when unfolded at low temperatures. To reduce the risk of cracking, liners should be stored at temperatures between 20°C and 22°C (70°F to 72°F). Liners should not be unfolded when temperatures are below 20°C (70°F).

Stacking liner cartons should also be avoided because excessive weight can create pressure points in folded vinyl.

FAQ

Can cold weather damage vinyl pool liners before installation?

Yes. Vinyl liners may crack if unfolded in cold temperatures because the material becomes less flexible.

How should vinyl liners be stored before installation?

Vinyl liners should be stored in a temperature-controlled environment and should not be stacked in a way that creates pressure on folded areas.

Why do vinyl liners crack during installation?

Cracking often occurs when liners are unfolded while cold or when folds have been compressed during storage.
